Who this applies to
This guide is for people who need official information from Poland’s National Criminal Register for employment, immigration, licensing, volunteering or another formal purpose. Before ordering, check whether the receiving institution needs a Polish paper certificate, an electronic e-KRK document, an apostille or a translation.
The Krajowy Rejestr Karny (KRK) is Poland’s National Criminal Register. An official certificate from this register is the only legal proof that you do not have a criminal record in Poland.
Common uses for this document:
Residence Permit (Karta Pobytu) applications.
Employment in schools, financial institutions, or security.
Licensed business activities or professional certifications.
International visa applications or adoption processes.
2. Method 1: Applying Online (e-KRK)
Applying online is the most efficient method for most residents. You will need a Profil Zaufany (Trusted Profile) or an e-ID to complete the process.
Log in via Login.gov.pl using your digital credentials.
Choose the option “Wniosek o zapytanie o osobę” (Request for information about a person).
Fill in the required personal details as they appear on your passport.
Pay the administrative fee (20 PLN) through the online payment gateway.
Sign and submit the request.
The official electronic result is provided as a digitally signed XML file. Keep the electronic file: a printout of the XML is not itself the official e-KRK document.
3. Method 2: In-Person (Immediate Result)
Use this method if you need a physical document with a “wet stamp” immediately.
Visit any Sąd Okręgowy (District Court) Information Point.
Present your passport or ID card.
Complete the application form provided at the desk.
Pay the 30 PLN fee at the court’s cash desk or stamp machine.
The certificate is usually issued on the spot.

An in-person route is available. The online e-KRK route requires a supported electronic login and account. If you cannot use the online authentication route, check the current in-person or postal procedure and required identity document.
